The former Cresco site is a 37 hectare industrial plot that has been utilised since the 1928 as a production and storage site for commercial agricultural fertiliser products. Production ceased in 1993 and storage was discontinued in 2004.

The project includes the release of around 7,400 hectares of agricultural land in the Goomig Farm Area and land with longer term development potential in the Knox Plain and Ord West Bank areas, in conjunction with the improvement of social, community and common-use infrastructure and delivery of meaningful, sustainable Indigenous employment opportunities.
